Home is where the heart is November 09 2014

As I ponder Remembrance Day and Christmas, my thoughts keep turning to my family, friends and all those I love. Whether they’ve gone from this life, or are here with me now, I hold them all in my heart.

Relationships are like fused glass. Fragile yet strong. Beautiful yet uneven. Sometimes shattered and sometimes mended – like the plate (shown above) from my personal collection. It broke last Christmas and has been glued back together. It remains intact, with its own seam.

The unexpected death of my sister-in-law's dear father this past week has put me in this contemplative space. Our loved ones, here and gone, have made us who we are and hold us together - fragile but strong, beautiful, if not perfect, maybe broken and hopefully glued back together – fused together with love.
