Tiptoe through the tulips with me March 22 2015

Spring tiptoed into our lives Friday night at 6:45pm EDT. The weather didn't change. There were no fireworks or special celebrations. Birds didn't burst into song. Flowers didn't even pop up.

Nothing profound happened at all.

Except - a feeling of silliness started to overtake me. I can't swear it started at exactly 6:45pm. It began slowly.

I was thinking about spring while looking at my newly-created "tulip garden bowl" and "tulip parade platter". Then I started thinking about Tiny Tim singing "Tiptoe Through the Tulips". Next thing I knew, I was humming it and smiling. My toes started tapping. I felt lightheaded, silly and free.

If you are waiting for the snow to melt and the sun to come out, or already seeing blossoms, you can enjoy the song lyrics below. First published in 1929,"Tiptoe Through The Tulips" has been featured in movies and cartoons and frequently recorded. The silliest version is Tiny Tim’s. Watch him here on YouTube and experience a little Spring silliness for yourself.

Tiptoe through the window
By the window, that is where I'll be
Come tiptoe through the tulips with me

Oh, tiptoe from the garden
By the garden of the willow tree
And tiptoe through the tulips with me

Knee deep in flowers we'll stray
We'll keep the showers away
And if I kiss you in the garden, in the moonlight
Will you pardon me?
And tiptoe through the tulips with me

Maybe it's flowers you stray will be the showers of life
And when I kiss you in the garden in the moonlight
Will you pardon me and tiptoe through the tulips with me
