A great honour November 01 2015
During the summer I received an email including a photo of a flower design created in Play Doh by an eight-year-old girl named Mariska. She loves my work, I was told, and would like to visit me some day in my studio. She was wondering if I thought her design might be good enough for me to create something in glass.
Mariska’s design is lovely. She has an artist’s eye and I am honoured that she chose to share it with me.
To have a young person want to be like you in any way is not to be taken lightly: it’s a gift to be treasured.
Her design became a glass wall hanging, so she will be reminded daily that she is an artist worthy of respect.
