Portfolio Dip/candy bowl - Deliciously wonky
Early morning summer colours, shades and light in a free form shape make a stunning bowl. If you see yourself in this lopsided shaped, bulging-sided, deliciously wonky small bowl - on the one hand, normal and well-balanced but on the other, a tad wonky - then this bowl is perfect for your dips, vegetables, cookies, breads, candy, nuts or as a decoration to brighten up your space.
How it was created: Opaque colours of frit were arranged on a transparent green base and fired in the kiln for one day. Once fused and cooled, I smashed the piece with a hammer, using the broken bits to create a design on a circle of transparent yellow glass and fired the glass for another day. On the third day, I placed the fused piece onto a bowl mold and slumped the piece in the kiln for another day.
I suggest that you wash all Glass by Charis by hand. It is food safe.
Putting this piece in the microwave is not recommended.
Size: 8.5" (2.25" deep)
My process often adds bubbles in the glass and no piece is perfectly round or square, adding to its appeal.
Fusing glass, often in several layers, results in items that may seem surprisingly heavy when first unpacked.
