Portfolio Bowl - Double-duty pink blizzard
A pink blizzard effect and a quirky see-through eye on the bottom of this bowl reminds us of a swirling snowstorm across a pink and blue landscape. Hold the bowl with the see-through eye at the bottom and the eye turns into a grinning mouth with two eyes above. The laughing heart of the blizzard.
The "Pink blizzard bowl" weighs 4.66 lbs. So it is substantial. Wonderful as a large serving bowl. Or fill with water and floating candles and watch the blizzard glimmer. Dreamy as well as useful.
Four white floating candles are included.
I recommend that you wash all Glass by Charis by hand. It is food safe.
Size: 10.5" (3"deep)
How it was created: The "double-duty pink blizzard bowl" was created by laying a pink and blue swirly glass on the kiln shelf and topping it with clear glass with a white leaf-like pattern. The two pieces were fused together. The next day the 12" square fused piece was put in a large square bowl mold. The next day the glass was put in a large square mold and slumped. It slumped too far, so I laid another piece of clear glass on the kiln shelf, put the slumped piece on top and fused the whole thing flat again. The second slumping was not quite right either, so I fused it flat once more and then slumped it again. Third time was the charm. This bowl was in the kiln for six days.
My process often adds bubbles in the glass and no piece is perfectly round or square, adding to its appeal.
Fusing glass, often in several layers, results in items that may seem surprisingly heavy when first unpacked.
