Portfolio Ice cream bowl - Red rose
A stunning red rose sits in the bottom of a white ice cream dish. This small bowl is perfect for dessert or a snack. How about serving pickles or relish in it? It could be a wonderful adornment to your dresser to hold your precious things. The possible uses are endless.
This piece was featured in my blog here.
I suggest that you wash all Glass by Charis by hand. It is food safe.
Putting it in the microwave is not recommended.
Size: 5.75" (1.25" deep)
How it was created: The "Red rose" ice cream bowl was created by cutting a circle from a sheet of white glass and laying it on the kiln shelf for the base. I cut another circle out of clear and placed it on top. The rose was made from pieces of transparent red glass laid on top of the clear glass giving it a feeling of floating. The three layers were fused together. The next day the 6.5" circle fused piece was put in a small bowl mold with interesting ridges on the side and fired for another day.
My process often adds bubbles in the glass and no piece is perfectly round or square, adding to its appeal.
Fusing glass, often in several layers, results in items that may seem surprisingly heavy when first unpacked.
